In 2022 more than 32 pubs per month closed for business in the United Kingdom. Zig Zag Tours have decided to open their 2023 schedule with a Nottingham City Centre pub crawl around five lesser known C20 classics, perhaps (but hopefully not) to wish them a fond farewell before they are gone. Using material from the Nottinghamshire County Archives, we will consider the social, architectural and economic history of the pubs. We have four post WW2 classics (1956; 1963; 1964; 1967) as well as some interwar gems (1924 remodelled; 1937) and all will be revealed on the night – we suspect in some cases you may never have set foot through their doors. Each of them are certainly worth celebrating over a pint (or a half-pint if you want to finish the tour still standing).
