OVERVIEW

Do the names Hagworthingham, Ashby Puerorum, Skendley Psalter, Scanelsby, Calcethorpe and Belchford ring any bells? Can you even pronounce some of them? Perhaps not, but these are all magical places tucked deep inside the Lincolnshire Wolds; an area with some of the most beautiful and unspolit scenery of our very own Midlands region.

Rolling hills, golden sandy beaches, some of the earliest post-Roman brick buildings in the UK, Hansaetic League market towns, deserted medieval villages, and on top of all that it is ‘An Area of Outstanding National Beauty (AONB)’. Why haven’t we been here before?

It is time to get Lost in the Wolds on the legendary Zig Zag Summer Weekender. This year we’ve gone and booked out a Manor House (check out the photos) – Airbnb describes it as ‘Beautiful Victorian Elegance’. A change of scenery from our usual YHA affair, single and double rooms are limited so book early if you want your own space.
