Architects of the Neolithic

WALKING TOURS / MINI HOLIDAY

Date: Friday 29 September – Sunday 1 October

Start/Finish: YHA Youlgreave

Difficulty: easy/medium

Highlights: stone circles, pubs, great food.

OVERVIEW

Exploring the stone circles, henges and burial mounds of the Peak District. A two days walking tour of connected sacred monuments across an epic landscape which has been shaped by humans for thousands of years.

We’ll explore how the architects of the Neolithic revolution kick-started the human interventions that moulded the Peaks we see today and delve into a hidden valley to find a refuge that shows how the landscape could be restored.

Your guides for this adventure are long-socked architect and Neolithic enthusiast Simon Middlecote and long-haired archaeologist and historic building expert Jason Mordan.

We will be based in the YHA Youlgreave hostel for the weekend. We have a mixture of accommodations including dorms, group rooms and double rooms. If you cannot join us for the weekend or have alternative accommodation, you can join us just for the day.
